Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Night – 3x12-Hour (18:30 – 07:00)
Job Responsibilities
• Provide advanced respiratory care to adult and geriatric critical care patients
• Serve as ECMO Specialist with hands-on management of VV ECMO circuits (Cardio Help system)
• Monitor, assess, and manage patients on mechanical ventilation including BiPAP, CPAP, and SIMV
• Perform arterial punctures, draw and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Assist with intubation and extubation procedures
• Perform airway management including ETT suctioning, tracheostomy care, nasal/oral airway placement, and pulmonary hygiene
• Administer respiratory medications including bronchodilators, inhaled steroids, nitric oxide (INo), inhaled Flolan, Mucomyst, and other aerosolized therapies
• Set up and manage aerosol delivery systems (mask, trach), nebulizers (heated, ultrasonic, hand-held, T-piece), and oxygen therapy devices (HFNC, ET tube, trach collar, bag-mask)
• Manage and troubleshoot ventilator alarms including high-pressure alarms and assist with ventilator weaning
• Provide care for patients with ARDS, aspiration, bronchoscopy, COVID, pneumonia, fresh tracheostomy, and ECMO support
• Participate in interdepartmental and ambulance patient transport
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including pharmacy, radiology, rapid response, and respiratory services
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic/Excellian charting system
• Participate in on-call rotation and float within scope as needed
Required Skills & Experience
• Minimum 2 years of RRT experience required
• Minimum 1 year of ECMO Specialist experience required
• Must have recent hands-on experience operating ECMO machine
• Adult Critical Care experience required
• Experience with arterial punctures and ABG interpretation required
• Experience with full ventilator management and protocol-driven ECMO required
• Patient ratio experience 1:6 preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• First-time travelers accepted with ECMO experience
• Must live more than 100 miles from facility
Required Certifications & Licensure

• BLS – Required
• PALS – Required
• Active State License – Required at start date
