Provides high performance technical expertise, focused on life support measures, code response, and the care and diagnosis of acute and chronic pulmonary disorders. Respiratory Therapists also serve as cross‑divisional resources for clinical support and education in the Medical Center.

Provides administration of airway management, mechanical ventilator application and management, therapeutic respiratory care, oxygen and aerosol therapy, limited diagnostic services, near‑patient testing (NPT), CPR, patient transport, patient education, and other special services as defined within the department scope. Services may include newborn, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient groups with acute and chronic care conditions.

• Graduate of an approved JRCRTE/COARC respiratory care program

• Training and experience in a medical acute care environment
• Some positions may require experience in one or more of the following specialized areas:
  • Diagnostics – PFT/Bronchoscopy
  • Pulmonary/Rehab
  • Equipment Specialist
  • Charge

• Demonstrates an ability to communicate effectively, organize and prioritize assignments, make decisions, and exercise good judgment
• Current RCP scope of practice at North Memorial for non‑specific assignment

• Current Minnesota RT License (must meet all annual requirements for renewal including mandated CEUs)
• Must be currently certified as a BLS provider

• Must be currently certified as an ACLS Provider (excludes therapists assigned to pulmonary rehab and equipment specialist)
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
