Job Responsibilities and Required/Preferred
Skills:
Perform high-volume
tissue processing, embedding, and microtomy
in a fast-paced histology lab (average 1,800 blocks/day). Routine embedding and microtomy of
biopsies and large specimens . Operate
automatic tissue processors
including dehydration, clearing agents, calcified/decalcified tissue processing, GI processing schedule, and microwave processing. Perform embedding of
GI specimens, large specimens, small and large tissues, skin techniques, embedding molds, histology cassettes . Conduct
microtomy
using automated/manual microtomes and cryostats, including cutting blocks, paraffin wax sections, fatty tissue, hard tissue, and precision microtomy. Prepare slides and perform
Hematoxylin & Eosin (H&E) staining . Utilize laboratory equipment including
automated microtomes and Leica H&E stainers (preferred) . Maintain documentation in
Epic/Excellian (Epic required; Excellian experience preferred) . Float within hospital or affiliated facilities as needed. Follow all laboratory safety and quality standards in a short-term acute care Magnet/Teaching Level III Trauma facility.
Required Qualifications:
ASCP-HT certification (required) Minimum
2 years of histology experience required Strong embedding and microtomy skills in a high-paced lab
Experience with automated/manual microtome and cryostat Tissue processing experience required Travel experience required (first-time travelers not accepted) Epic experience required License in hand preferred (pending MN license accepted; must apply upon offer) One supervisor reference required at submission Must meet background and fingerprinting requirements
