Altru Rehabilitation Hospital, part of Altru Health System, is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will implement treatment plans under the direction of a Physical Therapist, support patients in regaining function and independence, and document patient progress accurately. You will collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team in a compassionate, patient-centered environment that values respect, teamwork, and continuous learning.

- Implement physical therapy treatment plans as directed by a licensed Physical Therapist
- Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance and functional mobility training to patients
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safe mobility techniques
- Monitor patient responses to treatment and report changes to the supervising Physical Therapist
- Accurately document all treatments, patient progress, and communication in the EMR system
- Assist with patient transfers, positioning, and use of assistive devices to promote safety and independence
- Maintain a clean, safe treatment environment and ensure proper use and care of therapy equipment
- Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory guidelines at all times
- Participate in interdisciplinary care conferences and collaborate with the broader care team
- Engage in ongoing professional development, in-service training, and quality improvement initiatives
- Therapeutic exercise implementation
- Gait and balance training
- Application of physical therapy modalities (e.g., heat, cold, electrical stimulation, ultrasound)
- Patient transfer and mobility techniques
- Documentation in electronic medical records (EMR)
- Home exercise program instruction
- Basic musculoskeletal and neuromuscular assessment under PT direction
- Pain management techniques within PTA scope
- Infection control and safety procedures
- Interdisciplinary teamwork and collaboration
- Time management in a clinical setting

- Current or eligible Physical Therapist Assistant license in North Dakota
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
