Our research team is accepting applications for a temporary full-time Level 2 Epidemiology Research Professional (job code 8352EP) based in the Division of Epidemiology and Community Health at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health, under the supervision of Dr. Horacio Duarte.
Position DescriptionThe position will be supported by an NIH-funded project focused on evaluating the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of interventions aimed at eliminating mother to child transmission(eMTCT) of HIV in African contexts. Our group is evaluating a wider range of eMTCT-relevant interventions, including:
1) maternal viral load monitoring;
2) retention support;
3) injectable long-acting antiretroviral therapy (ART);
4) pre-exposure prophylaxis; and
5) expanding maternal ART coverage.
To support our HIV vertical transmission microsimulation modeling work, this position will focus primarily on conducting in-depth searches of published literature and policy reports that are relevant to our model parameters and assumptions. To fill this role, we seek a highly motivated individual with effective analyticskills and a strong interest in conducting literature reviews. Although the position will not focus on conducting simulations, having a basic understanding of and an interest in simulation is helpful for this position.
This position will have opportunities for co-authorship on peer-reviewed manuscript publications.
Duration: This appointment is temporary for 18 months, with a possible extension depending on satisfactory performance and funding availability.
Start date: The start date is flexible, but preference will be given to applicants who can start by October 1, 2026.
Annual Salary: The anticipated salary range for the job is $59,640 to $68,815, based on years of prior experience and qualifications.
Work Arrangements: This position is hybrid.
Visa Language: Please note, this position is not eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship. This position does not offer a STEM OPT training program.
Job Duties- Provide support conducting systematic literature reviews(35%)
- Assist with synthesizing relevant data from literature reviews(35%)
- Assist with writing microsimulation model manual, particularly sections relevant to literature reviews performed by this individual (15%)
- Assist with writing and/or preparing figures and tables for manuscripts (15%)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree plus at least two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least six years.
- Demonstrated experience and skills in analytical thinking and/or quantitative methods
- Ability to work independently as well as a member of a research team
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written communication
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful workplace
- Master’s degree in epidemiology, decision analysis, or other public health-relevant quantitative area.
- Interest in decision science, simulation modeling and analysis, public health, health policy, economics, and/or medicine
- Background in infectious diseases and/or HIV.
