This leadership role will shape the future of inpatient pediatric clinical pharmacy services across Minnesota. You’ll lead an experienced team, strengthen clinical programs and practice models, and partner with physicians, nursing, and other leaders to advance medication safety, quality, and patient outcomes. The role also offers the opportunity to support the Epic transition and use data to drive continued growth and innovation.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership for inpatient pediatric clinical pharmacy services, ensuring consistent, high-quality medication management across the system.

  • Lead, develop, and support a team of approximately 15–20 pharmacy professionals, including supervisors, specialists, and pharmacists, with a strong focus on engagement, professional development, and team effectiveness.

  • Evaluate the current clinical pharmacy practice model and identify opportunities to expand, redesign, or optimize pharmacy services.

  • Develop and implement clinical pharmacy strategies and programs based on patient needs, evidence-based practice, quality outcomes, and organizational priorities.

  • Help identify opportunities for clinical pharmacy growth in areas such as perioperative services, medication reconciliation, antimicrobial stewardship, and behavioral health.

  • Partner with physicians, nursing, and interdisciplinary leaders on medication safety, formulary management, Pharmacy & Therapeutics initiatives, drug shortages, and complex pediatric pharmacotherapy.

  • Play a key leadership role in the transition to Epic, including developing data strategies and dashboards to measure clinical pharmacy services, outcomes, and value.

  • Drive quality improvement, innovation, and research initiatives that improve medication safety, clinical outcomes, and value-based care.

  • Represent clinical pharmacy on multidisciplinary committees and contribute to broader strategic and operational initiatives.

  • Lead change thoughtfully within an experienced pharmacy team, building collaboration and evaluating established practices to ensure resources are focused where pharmacy expertise creates the greatest value

Requirements
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.

  • At least 5 years of inpatient pediatric pharmacy experience
    , with strong clinical expertise in pediatric pharmacotherapy.

  • Current Minnesota pharmacist license or ability to obtain Minnesota licensure within three months of hire.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain certification within three months of hire.

  • Demonstrated people leadership experience and a genuine interest in coaching, developing, and engaging pharmacy professionals.

  • Approximately 3 years of leadership, management, or supervisory experience preferred
    ; highly experienced pediatric clinical specialists with demonstrated leadership capability may also be considered.

  • Experience working within an inpatient health-system pharmacy environment is essential.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, pharmacy professionals, and other clinical and operational leaders.

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate change, influence experienced clinical teams, and build alignment around evolving practice models.

  • Experience identifying, developing, or implementing clinical pharmacy programs is preferred.

  • PGY1 and/or PGY2 residency training, particularly in pediatrics, is preferred.

  • Advanced leadership, administrative, or business training or an advanced degree such as an MS or MBA is a plus.
