Patient Access Representative

Description

We are hiring Patient Access Representatives to support a busy healthcare environment. This is an onsite, patient-facing position focused on registration, check-in, insurance verification, and providing a positive experience for patients.

A variety of full-time, part-time, day, evening, overnight, and casual/per diem schedules may be available. Set schedules generally follow a two-week rotating schedule and may include weekend coverage depending on the shift. Shift times can range from early mornings through overnight hours, depending on the department and business need. Casual/per diem opportunities do not have a set schedule and vary based on available shifts and candidate availability.

As a Patient Access Representative, you will work directly with patients throughout the registration and check-in process. Depending on the assigned area, the position may involve working at a front desk or walking to patients within the department to complete registration.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

+ Greet and assist patients in person

+ Complete patient check-in and registration

+ Collect and update demographic and insurance information

+ Verify insurance eligibility and benefits

+ Enter accurate information into the electronic medical record (EMR)

+ Obtain required signatures and documentation

+ Collect copays and deductibles

+ Answer basic billing and financial questions

+ Assist with financial assistance applications when applicable

+ Help resolve registration or patient account issues

+ Assist with add-on appointment scheduling

+ Direct patients to the appropriate department or procedure

+ Handle inbound and outbound patient calls

+ Accurately document issues and resolutions

Qualifications

+ Must be at least 18 years old

+ 6+ months of customer service experience in an office or hospital setting

+ Intermediate Microsoft Office skills

+ Strong communication and customer service skills

+ Comfortable working directly with patients in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Experience:

Healthcare or revenue cycle experience, general office/administrative experience, and Epic experience.

Physical Requirements

This is an active, patient-facing position that may require regular walking, standing, bending, and turning. Candidates should be comfortable being on their feet throughout portions of the shift and able to lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally.
