Anselm House is seeking an organized and missionally aligned Food Service Manager to oversee the daily operations of the Melrose Station kitchen. This position supports Anselm House’s mission to cultivate Christian community, hospitality, and intellectual life at the University of Minnesota by ensuring that kitchen operations are efficient, compliant, and aligned with the organization’s commitment to excellence in hospitality and student formation.

The Food Service Manager will oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, support meal preparation for programs and events, uphold food safety and cleanliness standards, manage inventory and vendor relationships, and care for kitchen equipment and facilities. The ideal candidate is organized, hospitable, and detail-oriented, with a commitment to excellence in service and to the formation of the students and guests Anselm House serves.

Requirements

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong personal alignment with Anselm House’s mission, vision, and values. She or he will bring sound organizational judgment, attention to detail, and a hospitable, service-minded approach to supporting the life of the community.

Qualified candidates should possess:

  • Experience in kitchen management, food service, or hospitality preferred.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices.
  • Serv Safe, Food Safety Manager, or other applicable certification.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a mission-driven, team-oriented environment.
  • Alignment with the mission and values of Anselm House.
Details Kitchen Operations and Food Service

The Food Service Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Melrose Station kitchen, ensuring that food service supports Anselm House programs and events.

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing day-to-day kitchen operations, including meal preparation support for programs and events such as Fellows Nights, lectures, and gatherings.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organization, and food safety in compliance with health regulations.
  • Ensuring proper maintenance and care of kitchen equipment and facilities.
Inventory, Purchasing, and Vendor Management

This role will manage the supplies and supplier relationships needed to keep the kitchen well stocked and operating efficiently.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing kitchen inventory and monitoring supply levels.
  • Coordinating purchasing and maintaining vendor relationships.
Hospitality and Event Support

The Food Service Manager will partner with program staff to create a welcoming environment that reflects Anselm House’s commitment to hospitality.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with program staff to support events and gatherings.
  • Cultivating a welcoming, hospitable environment for students, faculty, and guests.
Apply Schedule and Compensation

This is a part-time, hourly position, anticipated at approximately 15-20 hours per week (consistent weekly hours, with the potential for additional hours if desired), with regular evening availability required during the academic year. Hourly rate based on experience (approx. $26-27/Hour).
