THE RIGHT STAFF has partnered with a respected local non-profit in their search for a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join their finance and HR team. This role is responsible for managing the full biweekly payroll cycle, ensuring compliance with all payroll regulations, and supporting payroll reporting, benefits coordination, and audits. Responsibilities- Administer and process biweekly payroll with a high level of accuracy, including time entry validation, adjustments, and payroll reconciliation.
- Maintain payroll records and employee data within the payroll system, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and confidentiality.
- Coordinate payroll-related deductions, garnishments, benefit contributions, and fringe benefit reconciliations.
- Support benefit enrollment changes and ensure proper payroll integration with benefit providers.
- Assist with leave-related pay coordination, including compliance with applicable state and federal programs.
- Prepare payroll-related reports and provide regular reporting support to HR, Finance, and leadership teams.
- Support internal and external payroll audits and ensure proper documentation and compliance.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies by collaborating with HR, Accounting, and external partners.
- Prepare and submit required payroll tax filings, including quarterly and annual reporting and W-2 preparation.
- Stay informed of payroll regulations, tax laws, and system updates to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Provide responsive support and training to managers and employees regarding payroll and timekeeping questions.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of employee payroll and personal information.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 4+ years of payroll processing experience required, preferably in a mid-to-large-sized organization.
- Experience working with payroll systems and HRIS platforms required.
- American Payroll Association FPC or CPP certification preferred.
- Working knowledge of payroll tax regulations, reporting requirements, and compliance standards.
- General understanding of HR processes and benefits administration preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and maintain professionalism in sensitive situations.
- Office located in Minneapolis, MN - hybrid flexibility available after training.

- Pay ranges from $31.00 to $34.00 per hour, depending on experience.
- Standard business hours, Monday through Friday.
