Associate Director Employee Relations

The Associate Director role also leads a team of Employee Relations (ER) Senior Managers responsible for partnering with HR and Business leaders to establish team priorities and develop goals to implement the company’s ER/LR strategy. The focus of which is to lead the team to reduce ER/LR risk by investigating and resolving workplace concerns, flexing in and out of crisis situations and using data analytics to identify and implement proactive strategies that reduce risk and improve employee engagement across the organization.

This role also serves as the primary point of contact for retail, services and logistics relationships across multiple geographies, and will work with HR and business leaders in advance of organizational change to identify and reduce ER/LR risk. This role will lead both remote and corporate teams and will coordinate efforts to ensure that key priorities of the ER/LR strategy are delivered in an efficient and timely manner.

This role is hybrid, which means you will be required to work on site Monday through Thursday at the Best Buy corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota. You can work virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location on Friday. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.

• Leads a team of ER Senior Managers (both remote and corporate). Sets clear expectations with employees and holds employees accountable to expectations and goals. Provides regular feedback to help employees perform at their best and to help them achieve their goals and develop their careers
• Responsible for the development and implementation of the enterprise-wide strategy to reduce ER/LR risk and identify continuous process, policy and training improvements to drive sustained employee engagement.
• Primary relationship partner with HR and Legal Directors and Business leaders in retail, corporate, services and logistics across multiple geographies in order identifying and building market strategies and specific plans for creating a positive employee experience, while reducing risk across the organization.
• Responsible for leading the team to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for the enterprise. Develop new tools, resources, and programs that allow both the Field ER/LR team as well as the ER Case Management team to continue to increase employee experience and drive engagement.
• Assist in the prompt and effective resolution of complex and/or confidential workplace conflicts by conducting investigations, providing investigation direction, training and leadership coaching.
• Communicate and coach on maintaining union free status and act as second level responder to union activity, taking the role of lead, conducting training and communication as required, directing the activity of team members assigned to the situation. Primary on‑site contact for the Senior Manager, Employee and Labor Relations as required in an organizing campaign.

• 10 years of Human Resources Management with an emphasis on employee and labor relations, preferably in a union free environment
• 5 years supervisory experience, preferably experience managing remote workforce

• 1 year of leveraging AI tools (Copilot, Power Automate)
