Job Summary

We’re looking for a detail-oriented, systems-minded HR professional with 5–7 years of experience to own and strengthen Jonny Pops’ core HR operations. This role serves as our primary payroll processor while also administering leave and benefits programs and supports our HR systems and data as we roll out a new HRIS platform. The right person is comfortable in a fast-growing, fast-moving environment, cares deeply about accuracy and compliance, and is always looking for ways to make HR processes simpler, more scalable, and easier for employees to navigate, including using AI and automation where it makes sense.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Benefits Administration
  • Manage day-to-day benefits administration — new enrollments, life event changes, and terminations within our HRIS and with external vendors.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee benefit questions, ensuring clear communication and timely resolution.
  • Coordinate annual open enrollment activities, including system configuration, rate updates, employee communications, and vendor coordination.
  • Reconcile monthly carrier invoices, resolve discrepancies, and partner with Finance to ensure timely payment.
  • Administer COBRA compliance, HSA/FSA reconciliation, and ACA eligibility tracking and reporting
  • Participate in benefit audits and data integrity reviews (i.e. 401(k), workers’ compensation, carrier audits).
Leave of Absence (LOA) Management
  • Manage the end-to-end leave process, including FMLA, state Paid Family & Medical Leave (e.g. MN PFML), Short-Term Disability, and ADA accommodation coordination in conjunction with our third‑party administrator.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of leave balances, pay coordination, benefit continuation, and return-to-work processes.
  • Maintain compliant documentation and ensure consistent application of leave policies.
Payroll Administration
  • Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly, salaried, and temporary employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
  • Maintain employee payroll records, including earnings, deductions, taxes, garnishments, and direct deposit information.
  • Administer regulatory requirements such as wage garnishments, tax levies, and support orders.
  • Partner with Finance on payroll reconciliations, general ledger alignment, audits, and year-end activities (i.e. W-2s).
  • Prepare and deliver recurring and ad hoc payroll reports to support business needs and compliance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee pay questions and payroll system issues
HRIS
  • Support configuration, testing, and rollout of our new HRIS platform (Dayforce), including data migration and workflow setup
  • Maintain data integrity and role‑based access across HR systems (HRIS, benefits enrollment, and payroll/finance systems)
  • Document system processes and train stakeholders on HR systems functionality.
  • Build and maintain SOPs that make HR Operations processes repeatable and less dependent on any one person
Compliance
  • Track multi‑state employment law requirements, including workers’ compensation, state unemployment insurance, and paid leave programs
  • Draft clear, empathetic employee communications on pay, leave, and benefits topics
  • Maintain personnel records in compliance with employment laws and internal policies.
AI & Process Optimization
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI tools and automation to improve People Operations processes.
  • Bring forward and implement AI‑driven solutions for reporting, workflows, knowledge management, and employee self‑service.
Food Safety Responsibilities

Jonny Pops operates an SQF‑certified, peanut‑free manufacturing facility. All employees — regardless of department — share responsibility for maintaining our food safety standards. In this role, you will:

  • Follow all food safety protocols when working in or near production areas, including GMP, hygiene, and PPE requirements
  • Ensure technology equipment brought into production areas meets sanitation and safety requirements
  • Complete all required food safety training and certifications as directed
