Position: UX Designer — MNSITE-3656

Location: Hybrid — Minneapolis, MN

Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in UX design for web-based applications.
  • 4+ years designing compliant webpages according to WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards or higher.
  • 5+ years creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups.
  • 3+ years in information architecture and interaction design.
  • 2+ years delivering UX design in an Agile development environment.
Desired Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in UX Design, Human–Computer Interaction, or Graphic Design.
  • Experience applying accessibility and inclusive design practices.
  • Conducting user research and developing personas.
  • Usability testing and analysis.
  • Data-driven design and interpreting user metrics.
  • Responsive and adaptive design principles.
  • Strong visual and UI design skills.
  • Knowledge of universal design principles.
  • Project management skills and time management capabilities.
  • Mobile app UI/UX experience, preferably with ticketing or payment systems.
  • Familiarity with transit fare systems, ticketing machines, and validation devices.
  • Basic front-end knowledge (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Blazor) to support collaboration.
  • Leveraging analytics to inform transit-related UX design.
  • Adaptability to new tools and technologies.
  • Empathy and a user-centered mindset.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • UX certifications or training in accessibility and Agile methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with Figma for design and prototyping.
Sample Responsibilities
  • Lead user research, including interviews and usability testing, to gather insights.
  • Design intuitive, accessible interfaces across digital platforms.
  • Create wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes.
  • Collaborate with product owners, developers, and stakeholders in Agile sprints.
  • Ensure all designs comply with accessibility standards, universal design principles, and brand guidelines.
  • Present design concepts and provide documentation for development handoff.
  • Conduct regular user interviews and usability testing within sprint cycles.
  • Audit and update existing screens for brand consistency and inclusive design.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and design presentations.
