What we are looking for:
The Network and System Administrator will be an integral part of the IT team, responsible for managing and maintaining the company’s core infrastructure, ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of systems across multiple sites. This role includes administering Windows servers, managing backups, configuring and monitoring network devices, and providing technical expertise in system architecture. The ideal candidate should have strong hands‑on experience with server, network, and storage technologies, along with excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to proactively support business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Windows Server Administration: Responsible for installing and configuring new servers, as well as troubleshooting issues on existing ones. Regular updates and patches are essential for maintaining security. Monitoring server health and evaluating new features or versions are key tasks. Additionally, providing guidance on creating new systems ensures alignment with organizational needs.
- Veeam Backup Management: Manage Veeam backups for servers and workstations in Minnesota and Pennsylvania. This includes monitoring for failed backup jobs and resolving any issues that arise. Effective disk space management is crucial to ensure smooth backup operations, along with restoring virtual machines as needed, including quarterly tests to verify backup integrity.
- Basic Scripting & Automation: Write and modify basic scripts using Python or Power Shell to streamline routine tasks, such as account creation, software installation, and system updates. Help automate other IT workflows to reduce manual intervention.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve mainly Level 3 IT issues related to hardware, software, and networking. Escalate complex problems to direct manager or other IT team members.
- Infrastructure Device Management: Install, configure, and maintain various infrastructure devices, such as Dell servers, Cisco switches, Grand stream access points, Opnsense firewalls, and Synology NAS systems. This also includes managing laptops and desktops, ensuring they function properly and providing support for any issues that may occur.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation for technical processes, scripts, and IT procedures.
Who You’ll Work With:
As part of the IT team, you’ll collaborate closely with HR, managers, and other departments to ensure a seamless employee experience. You’ll be the go-to person for Active Directory and server architecture, working alongside a motivated and solution-oriented IT team that values communication, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
What You Bring:
- Strong problem‑solving skills with attention to detail
- Experience with onboarding/offboarding processes and IT equipment setup
- Basic scripting knowledge in Python or Power Shell
- Familiarity with common operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux)
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently
- Excellent communication skills with a customer‑first attitude
- Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to non‑technical stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and processes
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities
- Experience with Proxmox VE for server virtualization and management is a plus, demonstrating ability to manage virtual machines, containers, storage, and networking within a virtualized environment.
Role Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with 2-3 years of hands‑on experience, or 5-7 years of hands‑on experience without a degree.
