SUMMARY/PURPOSE

The IT Infrastructure Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and securing Summit Academy OIC’s IT infrastructure and systems. This role ensures high availability, performance, and security of platforms that enable staff, instructors, and students to succeed. The IT Infrastructure Administrator partners across departments to deliver technology solutions that advance equity, access, and measurable results in workforce development.

This role plays a critical role in advancing Summit Academy OIC’s mission by ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable technology systems that support high-quality workforce training, student services, and institutional operations.

Systems & Infrastructure
  • Design, deploy, monitor, and maintain on-premises and cloud-based systems (servers, storage, networks, and virtualization).
  • Ensure high system availability, performance, and disaster recovery readiness to support uninterrupted instruction and operations.
  • Manage system upgrades, patches, and lifecycle planning.
Security & Compliance
  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity best practices, including access controls, monitoring, backups, and incident response.
  • Ensure systems comply with organizational policies, data privacy requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Proactively identify risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
Collaboration & Support
  • Document system configurations, standards, and procedures.
  • Partner with academic programs, student services, and administrative teams to align technology solutions with operational and instructional needs.
  • Provide Tier 2/3 technical support and collaborate with IT vendor partners.
Continuous Improvement & Results
  • Evaluate emerging technologies that could strengthen access, efficiency, and student outcomes.
  • Track system performance metrics and continuously improve reliability and user experience.
  • Contribute to strategic IT planning in support of Summit’s workforce development mission.
Technology leadership & AI Focus
  • Rise to the occasion to review and recommend IT solutions to meet future Organizational goals.
  • Wear Technology leadership hats to lead technology projects to finish line.
  • Partner with IT leaders and other departments to bring use case driven AI opportunities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and endpoint management tools.
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, wireless networking, VPNs, and network troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of cloud platforms, virtualization, backup systems, and disaster recovery principles.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and support requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively across departments and teams.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, data security, and operational excellence.
  • Ability to adapt to changing technology needs and organizational priorities.
  • Familiarity with IT service management practices and ticketing systems.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates in a professional school, workforce training, and administrative office environment. The work environment includes classrooms, computer labs, administrative offices, meeting rooms, and common areas across a multi-use campus.

This role routinely uses standard office and IT equipment including computers, monitors, printers, copiers, phones, servers, networking equipment, audiovisual technology, and enterprise software systems. The position may occasionally require work in server rooms, storage areas, or other technical environments.

The role may involve responding to urgent technical issues during or outside normal business hours.
