Cisco Meraki Network Engineer

Description

We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join a contract engagement in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This role will concentrate on improving the resilience, protection, and performance of a Cisco Meraki-based network environment through thoughtful assessment and targeted enhancements. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, sound judgment, and a practical approach to elevating network operations in line with proven industry standards.

Responsibilities:

- Examine the current Cisco Meraki environment to identify architectural shortcomings, security risks, and opportunities to improve network performance.

- Review network policies, rule sets, and configuration templates to promote stronger governance, alignment, and operational consistency.

- Drive infrastructure enhancement initiatives, including upgrades and tuning efforts across Meraki-supported network components and connected sites.

- Collaborate with internal technical teams to refine network standards and establish scalable approaches based on best practices.

- Evaluate the maturity of the broader network ecosystem and provide prioritized recommendations for sustainable improvement.

- Investigate and resolve advanced networking issues across Cisco-based environments to restore stability and reduce recurring problems.

- Provide ongoing support for core network infrastructure, including Cisco routers and Palo Alto firewall platforms, as needed.

- Create clear technical documentation outlining assessments, recommended actions, and completed changes to support visibility and continuity.

Requirements - 10+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering positions.

- Strong hands-on experience administering Cisco Meraki solutions within enterprise-scale environments.

- Broad knowledge of Cisco networking, including routing, security, and infrastructure architecture.

- Practical experience supporting Cisco routers and Palo Alto firewall technologies.

- Demonstrated ability to assess network designs and pinpoint security, performance, or structural gaps.

- Track record of delivering upgrades and operational improvements in complex network environments.
