What’sthe role?
Applications Engineers serve as trusted technical advisors, helping customers understand and maximize the use of ZEISS hardware and software systems. Support will be delivered through training sessions, remote and on-site assistance, programming, and measurement services. This consultative role requires professionalism, technical expertise, and a customer-centric approach to ensure client success and satisfaction.
Location/RegionThis position is located in Maple Grove, MN and will potentially travel 30-50%. Must live in Minnesota and be commutable to the Maple Grove location.
Hybrid3 days in office and 2 days remote.
What you’ll doTraining Delivery and Curriculum Development
- Deliver comprehensive training on ZEISS Industrial Metrology systems, including curriculum development and delivery.
Technical Support
- Provide remote and on-site technical support for ZEISS Industrial Metrology systems, including:
- Address customer inquiries related to software and applications.
- Rapidly assess and prioritize customer issues based on urgency and impact.
- Support internal ZEISS teams with software and application expertise.
- Assist with software and system testing to support product development.
- Document and report software performance issues accurately.
- Deliver after-sales technical support to ensure system success.
- Provide foundational IT support, including Windows operating systems, networking and connectivity, and database management.
Project-Based Applications Expertise
- Support project-related activities by responding to customer requests for quotations, analyzing requirements, and providing accurate time estimates for project completion.
- Prepare and maintain project data.
- Implement quoted application solutions through remote, classroom, or on-site delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related technical field.
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings for dimensional control requirements.
- Proficiency in 3D mathematics and experience with programming in modern scientific computing languages.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to varied audiences.
- Proven ability to identify, articulate, and resolve technical challenges, including creating concise technical reports.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with customers and internal teams.
- Experience in training or teaching, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts and demonstrate product benefits.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently to develop customer solutions.
- Self-motivated learner with the ability to independently acquire knowledge to address customer needs.
- Familiarity with tools such as Articulate, Captivate, InDesign, and Premiere is a plus.

The annual pay range for this position is $71,000 - $88,000. This position is eligible for a performance bonus or sales commissions. The pay offered may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, and complexity of talent.
