Job Description
In this role, you will impact the success of Honeywell’s automation & digital initiatives by driving the development and deployment of digital automation technologies that improve system performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities- Develop End-to-End Manufacturing Applications:
Design, build, and maintain full‑stack applications that support manufacturing operations, including shop floor systems, dashboards, and digital workflows. - Integrate OT and IT Systems:
Develop secure and scalable integrations between Operational Technology (OT) systems (PLCs, SCADA, MES, CMMS) and enterprise IT systems (ERP, cloud platforms, data lakes). - Build Industrial Data Pipelines:
Create and manage real‑time and batch data pipelines to ingest, normalize, and store machine and process data for analytics and decision‑making. - Develop User Interfaces for Shop Floor and Operations:
Build responsive front‑end applications (web/mobile) for operators, engineers, and plant leadership to monitor performance, quality, and equipment status. - Work with Industrial Protocols and Connectivity:
Implement and maintain connectivity using protocols such as OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, REST APIs, and other industrial communication standards. - Support Manufacturing Digital Ecosystem:
Contribute to the development of a connected manufacturing ecosystem including MES, IIoT platforms, digital twins, and smart factory initiatives. - Implement Scalable Backend Services:
Design and develop APIs, microservices, and backend systems to support data processing, business logic, and system interoperability. - Enable Advanced Analytics and Insights:
Partner with data engineers and data scientists to enable predictive maintenance, quality analytics, and performance optimization solutions. - Ensure Cybersecurity and System Reliability:
Follow OT and IT cybersecurity best practices to secure manufacturing systems, ensure data integrity, and maintain high system availability. - Collaborate with Cross‑Functional Teams:
Work closely with manufacturing engineers, controls engineers, IT, and operations teams to translate business needs into digital solutions. - Deploy and Maintain Cloud & Edge Solutions:
Support deployment of applications in cloud and edge environments (e.g., Azure IoT, AWS IoT Green grass) for distributed manufacturing environments. - Support Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance product quality through digital solutions. - Participate in Agile Development Processes:
Contribute to sprint planning, code reviews, testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
- 6+ years of experience in automation engineering or software development for manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of data systems and industrial communication protocols.
- Proficiency with manufacturing software tools such as MES, SCADA systems, SPC applications.
- Experience in troubleshooting and optimizing complex software and data systems in manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Proficiency in at least one of the following languages:
Python, C#. - PL/SQL (Oracle, Postgre
SQL, MS SQL, Snowflake). - Familiarity with MQTT, OPC, Kafka, Power BI, REST/SOAP API.
- Experience with Ignition modules such as Vision, Perspective, MES, and Reporting.
- Experience with troubleshooting automated equipment, machine vision, and programmable logic control (PLC).
- Understanding of AGILE practices, experience in all phases of development process.
