Position Summary
The Technology Specialist is the primary IT resource for Family Tree Clinic, responsible for providing reliable, responsive technology support to staff; managing the organization’s IT infrastructure, hardware, and software systems; administering Google Workspace; and coordinating with the clinic’s managed IT vendor (Med Tech Solutions) on network, server, and EHR-related systems. This position also selects, implements, and manages a help desk platform to streamline how staff request and receive IT support.
The Technology Specialist reports to the Finance Director and works closely with the Building Assistant on technology systems that intersect with building operations. This is a hybrid position: primarily on-site with a remote/on-call component to support clinic operations during all hours the clinic is open.
Primary Duties
Staff Support and Help Desk Management
- Provide direct, hands-on technology support to clinic staff, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Select, implement, and manage a help desk ticketing platform to provide a single, clear system for staff to submit IT requests.
- Triage and respond to IT support requests in a timely manner, following through to resolution and communicating status to the requester.
- Establish and maintain defined service windows for routine IT support, and a clear escalation process for urgent issues outside those windows.
- Develop and maintain self-service resources, including how-to guides and a knowledge base, to help staff resolve common technology issues independently.
- Purchase, set up, install, and onboard new computers (Windows, Microsoft Suite, Google Workspace), coordinating with Med Tech Solutions as needed.
- Create and maintain an inventory of all computers and users, including service dates and replacement timelines.
