The Learning Management System (LMS) Coordinator is a 1.0 FTE employee at the Multidisciplinary Institute for Child Welfare (MICW), which houses several dynamic research and training entities, including The Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare (CASCW), the Minnesota Linking Information for Kids (Minn-LInK) project, and the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy (MNCWTA).
This position provides technical support regarding learning management systems to users who include learners, staff, trainers, and other stakeholders of the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy. The LMS Coordinator creates trainings using Canvas, DORS, our custom training portal, as well as responds to problems, queries, and complaints from users. The LMS Coordinator troubleshoots user issues and escalates problems when needed. Information technology systems for this position include learning management systems, external applications and portals, customer management systems, reporting applications, and document processing software.
The LMS Coordinator will develop resources for responding to user queries, including knowledge-based articles, documentation, and guides.
This is a 100%, 12-month, annually renewable appointment in the civil services classification. A hybrid work schedule is required (3 days on-site, 2 days remote), reports to the LMS Supervisor, and will be located off campus at the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy, which is two miles north of the St. Paul Campus.
Job Responsibilities:
Technical Support & System Management (40%)
* Manage learner support requests through ticket system and LMS team email.
* Address questions and technical issues related to the LMS and connected systems.
* Troubleshoot learner, staff, and trainer issues; escalate complex problems when needed.
* Support setup, configuration, testing, and deployment of LMS platforms and tools.
* Provide training and onboarding for new staff and trainers.
* Create and maintain knowledge base articles, user guides, training materials, and FAQs aligned with UX and accessibility standards.
* Notify learners of missing information required of them to complete their training.
Training Development & LMS Operations (40%)
* Maintain and update existing MNCWTA trainings and keep users informed of updates.
* Assist in building new trainings under the direction of the LMS Team Lead and Curriculum team, ensuring accessibility requirements are met.
* Manage training documentation, track progress, and identify roadblocks.
* Suggest improvements to training templates based on learner feedback.
* Handle training setup, registration, waitlists, and withdrawals within DORS.
* Pull reports across multiple LMS platforms.
Collaboration & Communication (20%)
* Participate in LMS team discussions to support user experience and tracking.
* Collaborate with LMS Project Manager to ensure timelines and goals are met.
* Serve as support liaison between IT teams and internal MNCWTA teams to ensure smooth technology integration.
* Provide clear updates to stakeholders on system changes, outages, and issue resolutions.
* Participate in weekly meetings and working groups, sharing status updates and insights.
* Build and maintain relationships with Communications, Evaluation, Training & Delivery, Administration, DEI, and Policy teams.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree; or combination of related education and experience as project coordinator and/or project management to equal 4 years.
* Demonstrated experience in working within learning management systems, such as Canvas.
* Demonstrated strong organizational and time-management skills.
* Demonstrated ability to provide high-level customer service to people from a variety of communities, backgrounds, and identities.
* Familiar with Google office suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
* A technical background and experience with user-centered design (examples include accessibility; software user experience, CRM management, project management, eLearning authoring, data quality for reporting, graphic design, multimedia development, operating systems, applications, etc).
* Experience in developing user facing documentation, videos, and guides.
* Experience working with adult learners.

The Multidisciplinary Institute for Child Welfare (MICW) is a new organizing structure housing several dynamic research and training entities, including The Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare (CASCW), the Minnesota Linking Information for Kids (Minn-LInK) project, and the Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy (MNCWTA). Each entity is grant-funded and self-sustaining.
