Data Modeler - Strategic Network Design

As a Modeler on our Strategic Network Design team, you’ll help shape the future of Best Buy’s supply chain by turning complex business questions into data-driven insights. You’ll build and refine models that help leaders evaluate tradeoffs across cost, speed, capacity, inventory placement and customer experience before decisions are made in the real world. This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days at our corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota, and some days virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.

• Build and maintain supply chain optimization and scenario-planning models
• Translate business questions into structured analytical and modeling solutions
• Evaluate network scenarios and identify tradeoffs across cost, service and capacity
• Validate model outputs, assumptions, and business rules to ensure accuracy
• Communicate insights and recommendations to technical and non-technical partners
• Partner with data scientists, engineers and business teams to improve planning capabilities

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM, analytics, supply chain or related field
• 2 years of experience in data science, analytics, operations research or a similar quantitative role
• Experience using tools such as SQL, Python, R or Excel
• Experience working with large and complex datasets
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and communication skills

• Master’s degree in a related field
• Experience in supply chain analytics, logistics, network design or transportation modeling
• Knowledge of optimization, simulation or operations research methods
• Experience building mathematical models or decision-support tools
• Familiarity with Python analytics libraries, Power BI, Tableau, or supply chain modeling platforms
