Contract Consulting Opportunity For An Experienced Linux Systems Engineer
Must be local to Minneapolis, MN area - will be onsite 4 days/week in downtown Minneapolis
Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Linux System Engineer to support and maintain enterprise Linux infrastructure across on-premises data centers and AWS cloud environments. This role is responsible for administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL
8), automating system administration tasks, ensuring system security and performance, and supporting enterprise IT operations using ITIL best practices and Service Now.
- Administer, maintain, and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL
8) servers in on-premises and AWS environments. - Perform server installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
- Monitor system health, optimize performance, and troubleshoot Linux OS, storage, networking, and application issues.
- Implement Linux security hardening, vulnerability remediation, access management, and compliance standards.
- Develop and maintain automation using Bash, Python, or Ansible.
- Support AWS-based Linux workloads, including EC2, EBS, VPC, IAM, Cloud Watch, and Auto Scaling.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, database, network, and security teams to resolve incidents and support business operations.
- Manage incident, change, problem, and request processes using Service Now and ITIL best practices.
- Maintain technical documentation and participate in on-call support as needed.
- 5+ years of Linux system administration experience.
- Strong expertise with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL
8). - Experience with Linux installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency with Bash, Python, or Perl scripting and automation tools such as Ansible.
- Strong understanding of Linux processes, memory management, file systems, networking, and kernel concepts.
- Experience analyzing logs, troubleshooting performance issues, and performing root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of Linux security, including SELinux, user/access management, vulnerability remediation, and enterprise compliance standards.
- Experience supporting Linux workloads in AWS, including EC2, EBS, VPC, IAM, Cloud Watch, and Auto Scaling.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and experience using Service Now for incident, change, and problem management.
- Experience managing large-scale enterprise Linux environments.
- Knowledge of disaster recovery, backup, and high-availability solutions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional technical teams.
ITR Group offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including medical, dental, and 401(k) for eligible employees. The W2 pay range for this type of role is approximately $50.00 - $62.00 per billable hour. This range is an estimate and not a guarantee of compensation. The final rate will be determined by factors such as experience, market trends, and specific job assignments.
