Pay rate: Salary up to 150K. The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. This position also carries a bonus of 12-15% (more details on benefits below).

We are seeking a hands-on Azure Engineering Manager to lead the continued evolution of a mature Azure cloud environment supporting a rapidly growing financial services and fintech ecosystem. This role combines cloud architecture, engineering leadership, operational excellence, and people management. The ideal candidate will spend approximately 60% of their time on hands-on Azure architecture, cloud engineering, security, automation, and modernization initiatives, with the remaining 40% focused on leading and developing a team of cloud engineers.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Azure Engineer, Lead Cloud Engineer, or Azure Architect looking to expand their leadership responsibilities while remaining deeply involved in technical decision-making and solution delivery.
What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and support scalable, secure, and resilient Azure-based solutions.
- Lead architecture decisions that align with business objectives and long-term cloud strategy.
- Establish and maintain architecture standards, reusable patterns, and best practices.
- Guide cloud modernization and migration initiatives from legacy on-premises environments to Azure.
- Evaluate emerging Azure technologies and recommend enhancements to the platform.
- Lead efforts to identify, assess, and remediate cloud threats and vulnerabilities.
- Ensure Azure solutions align with security, compliance, governance, and risk management requirements.
- Partner with Information Security teams to embed security controls into cloud designs and operational processes.
- Drive best practices around identity management, access controls, monitoring, and platform security.
Project Delivery & Automation
- Oversee cloud engineering initiatives from planning through implementation.
- Champion Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and cloud automation using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
- Promote Dev Ops and CI/CD best practices to improve efficiency, consistency, and deployment quality.
- Support project teams by providing technical direction and architectural oversight.
Incident Management & Operations
- Provide technical leadership during major incidents and production support events.
- Establish standards for performance, reliability, monitoring, and operational excellence.
- Analyze operational trends and identify opportunities to increase platform stability, scalability, and efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts through automation and proactive platform management.
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of cloud engineers.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance discussions, and career development conversations.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous learning, and innovation.
- Recognize team achievements and support professional growth.
- Influence cloud strategy, priorities, and investment decisions across technology teams.
- Mature Azure environment operating for 4+ years.
- Large-scale Azure infrastructure with 800+ resources across 75+ resource types.
- Hybrid infrastructure with ongoing migration from legacy data centers.
- High-volume financial transaction ecosystem supporting banking and fintech services.
Qualifications
Required
- 8-10+ years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, or cloud architecture.
- Strong expertise designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-scale Azure environments.
- Deep knowledge of Azure services, including:
- Compute
- Networking
- Storage
- Identity and Access Management
- Security and Governance
- Monitoring and Observability
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
- Experience with Dev Ops practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong troubleshooting, incident management, and operational support experience.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
Preferred
- Prior people leadership experience or demonstrated technical leadership of engineering teams.
- Experience in highly regulated environments such as banking, financial services, healthcare, or similar industries.
- Experience supporting AKS and Azure Databricks environments.
- Azure certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Administrator Associate, or related certifications.
- Available from either the Golden Valley or Roseville office locations.
- Occasional travel may be required for team collaboration, training, and business initiatives.
