Generative AI Prompt Engineer

A forward-thinking technology and security organization is seeking a Generative AI Prompt Engineer to contribute to the development of AI-powered solutions supporting cybersecurity analysis, vulnerability discovery, and automated security testing efforts. This position is ideal for professionals who thrive in environments where experimentation, technical problem solving, and rapid iteration are key to success. The team leverages frontier language models and advanced prompting techniques to address real-world security challenges.

The individual in this role will help create scalable AI-driven frameworks, improve model effectiveness, and support initiatives focused on identifying meaningful security findings through Generative AI technologies. Candidates who have successfully built AI solutions, developed complex prompt strategies, and applied AI capabilities to technical problem domains will be particularly well positioned for success. The environment is highly collaborative and focused on turning innovative ideas into practical capabilities.

This is a 12-month contract opportunity located in Minneapolis, MN with a hybrid schedule requiring three days onsite per week.

Required Skills & Experience

• Advanced knowledge of Large Language Models and Generative AI platforms
• Experience creating, testing, and optimizing sophisticated prompts for technical use cases
• Proven ability to develop AI harnesses, prompt frameworks, or AI-powered workflows
• Cybersecurity experience including vulnerability analysis, security testing, threat identification, or related disciplines
• Understanding of application and infrastructure security concepts
• Familiarity with DAST, SAST, penetration testing, or vulnerability management practices
• Software engineering experience using Python, Go,.NET, or similar programming languages
• Ability to evaluate model performance and improve outcomes through experimentation
• Strong analytical thinking and troubleshooting skills
• Effective verbal and written communication abilities

Desired Skills & Experience

• Background in AI-focused security research
• Experience performing adversarial model testing or AI red-team activities
• Knowledge of malware, threat intelligence, and cyber defense methodologies
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Cloud SQL, or comparable database platforms
• Familiarity with security monitoring, network analysis, and infrastructure risk assessment
• Exposure to cloud-native environments
• Kubernetes or GKE experience
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale security programs

What You Will Be Doing

Daily Responsibilities

• Build advanced prompts and prompting methodologies for AI-driven cybersecurity initiatives
• Develop frameworks that enable consistent and repeatable AI testing processes
• Utilize Generative AI technologies to support security investigations and vulnerability analysis
• Experiment with prompting approaches to improve model accuracy and effectiveness
• Assess responses generated by AI systems and identify valuable security insights
• Work alongside security and engineering teams to refine and expand AI capabilities
• Contribute to research efforts focused on frontier language model applications
• Support the collection, organization, and operational use of AI-generated findings
• Build proof-of-concepts and prototypes that can be expanded into scalable solutions
• Stay informed on emerging trends across AI, machine learning, and cybersecurity
