HowWill You Make a Difference?
- Provide detailed analysis of conflict of interest reports, identifying possible conflicts of interest and assisting with the timely resolution of conflicts of interest, by working directly with attorneys and their secretaries to resolve identified issues and escalating problem issues to the Manager of Conflicts Counsel, the Director of Conflicts and/or others as appropriate.
- Produce accurate conflict of interest reports by querying the firm’s conflicts database.
- Provide training and support to other members of the Conflicts Department with regard to the conflicts identification, review, analysis and resolution process as part of the new business intake process.
- Conduct and report on business research for proposed new clients and matters.
- Provide advice regarding use of firm standard engagement and waiver letter templates and assist with drafting same.
- Provide advice regarding the need for ethical walls and assist with putting ethical walls in place.
- Assist the Manager of Conflicts Counsel in the ongoing maintenance of the conflicts information in the firm’s databases to ensure the integrity of this information
- Working with the Manager of Conflicts Counsel and under the guidance of the Director of Conflicts, assist with the documentation of conflicts analysis and resolution procedures and other internal departmental procedures.
- Provide back‑up support for the Manager of Conflicts Counsel and the Lateral Risk team in the conflicts review, analysis and resolution of lateral principals, attorneys and other candidates for hire.
- A Bachelor’s degree is required (or experience that exceeds the minimum requirement); JD is preferred
- 3+ years law firm experience with expertise in the identification, analysis and resolution of conflicts of interest, including ethical, subject matter and business conflicts is required
- Thorough knowledge of law firm administrative processes as it relates to conflicts resolution
- Working knowledge of automated conflicts databases.
- Experience using Intapp™ matter intake and conflicts software preferred
- Excellent investigative and analytical skills necessary to conduct complex and detailed analysis of legal matters. Excellent written and oral communication and customer service skills.
- Requires proficiency in utilizing Microsoft office applications including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Ability to work independently, to identify issues and problems and recommend and implement
- Ability to change and adapt to current and future responsibilities and circumstances.
- Work occasionally requires more than normally scheduled work hours to perform the essential duties of the position.
- This role is part of The Hub, Fish’s remote‑first group of professionals. Hub employees work primarily from home with no expectation of a regular in‑office presence. The preferred working hours are 9‑5 or 10‑6 Pacific time.
