The pay range is $95,000.00 - $. Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and in some instances may include education, work experience and certifications. As a Sr Manager Logistics you'll focus on sourcing transportation capacity solutions that deliver against business requirements for both Food First and Middle Mile transportation. You'll partner closely with operational teams while establishing and maintaining great relationships with external carrier and yard partners. Here, you'll be challenged to pivot from development of innovative capacity and sourcing strategies to ensuring flawless implementation across our growing transportation network.
You will shape Target's food distribution carrier network and directly own the balance between reliability, freshness and cost as we set out to achieve the transformative goals we have in front of us.
- Lead end-to-end sourcing process, leveraging RFIs, complex RFPs, cross-functional collaboration and direct negotiation, to ensure adequate network capacity and cost
- Leverage leadership skills for creation and iteration of souring strategy through collaboration with senior leadership, operational and procurement partners
- Utilize data, insights and benchmarks to deliver additional value to the organization
- Maintain comprehensive understanding of transportation industry trends, carrier base, market conditions and technology tools
- Establish and maintain effective partnerships with third-party carriers and yard providers through strong communication and routines
- Negotiate business terms and conditions, lead contract management in coordination with corporate legal partners
- Lead training and engagement moments with internal and external partners, inclusive of performance reviews with support from operational teams
- Serve as an escalation point and stakeholder for all aspects of carrier performance management
- Build trust with key stakeholders to be able to navigate complex, conflicting and changing priorities
- The Food First and Middle Mile network includes truckload, less than truckload and yard providers. The category contains volume that originates at domestic vendors, internal and external consolidation points with destinations across our 8 food distribution centers and both mainland and offshore stores.
- Role is self-directed, requires detailed problem solving, independent judgment and decision making
- 4-year degree or equivalent experience, MBA preferred
- 7 years of sourcing, transportation or retail supply chain experience preferred
