A privately held company in the western Twin Cities is looking for a senior transportation leader to take ownership of its transportation business.
This person will be responsible for the overall strategy and performance of the transportation operation, including freight brokerage, carrier procurement, load planning, network design, service levels, and profitability. The role will report directly to the President and CEO and will have significant influence over how the business grows.
The company is looking for someone who understands both the operational and commercial sides of transportation. This person should be comfortable setting direction, developing leaders, improving margins, working across departments, and using data and technology to build a stronger and more scalable operation.
Responsibilities
- Set the long-term direction for the transportation business
- Own transportation revenue, profitability, service, and overall operating performance
- Identify new service offerings, customer solutions, and market opportunities
- Lead freight brokerage, carrier procurement, load planning, and network optimization
- Improve carrier performance, capacity, cost, and service levels
- Develop and manage transportation metrics, dashboards, and reporting
- Use technology, analytics, and automation to improve efficiency and decision-making
- Work closely with Sales, Operations, Finance, Customer Success, and Technology
- Build and develop a strong transportation leadership team
- Create processes and systems that can support continued growth
- Keep the President and CEO informed on performance, priorities, challenges, and opportunities
Desired Skills And Experience
- 10 or more years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain
- Significant leadership experience within a transportation operation
- Experience with freight brokerage, carrier procurement, load planning, or network optimization
- A track record of owning financial and operational results
- Experience building teams, processes, and scalable operations
- Strong business judgment and problem-solving ability
- Comfort working with data, technology, and performance metrics
- Ability to communicate clearly and work across multiple departments
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field preferred
- Product management or transportation service development experience strongly preferred
