Job Description & How to Apply Below
The Purchasing & Operations Coordinator will support our client's purchasing, customer service, and administrative functions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in purchasing and supply chain, with significant opportunity to expand their responsibilities and develop toward a future Purchasing Manager role.
This individual will gain hands-on exposure to purchasing, supplier management, inventory, customer service, and overall plant operations while partnering closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Sales, and other internal teams. As the individual develops their knowledge of the business and purchasing function, there is strong potential to take on greater ownership and responsibility within the organization. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, proactive, and eager to learn, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate procurement activities for production materials, equipment, tooling, plant supplies, and contracted services to help keep operations running efficiently.
- Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, order status, and delivery timing, and follow through on purchasing needs from request to receipt.
- Review stock levels and purchased component availability to support material planning and reduce the risk of shortages or delays.
- Maintain accurate purchasing documentation, including supplier records, order details, and supporting files for internal reference and compliance.
- Assist in evaluating vendor performance and contribute to initiatives focused on process improvement and cost savings.
- Provide additional support for customer service and order administration by entering and updating customer orders and related information in the company system.
- Prepare order confirmations, share delivery updates, and assist with quotations, invoicing, and business correspondence as needed.
- Support daily plant and office operations through recordkeeping, report preparation, departmental documentation, and coordination with outside service providers.
- Help administer contract staffing processes, including attendance tracking, time submission support, and communication with staffing agencies.
- Offer front office and general administrative coverage when needed and contribute to cross-department projects and operational assignments.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related discipline is preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in purchasing, inventory control, customer service, order management, or a similar operations-focused role.
- Background working in a manufacturing environment, with familiarity in material planning, production support, or purchased components, is preferred.
- Experience using ERP or business software for order entry, purchasing records, and data maintenance; exposure to IQMS is a plus.
- Strong organizational ability with close attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records and information.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, customers, suppliers, and service partners.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, solve problems proactively, and adapt to changing business needs.
- Self-directed approach with the willingness to learn new processes and provide support across several functional areas.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Targeted salary range of $60,000-$70,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- Paid time off and company-paid holidays.
- Strong opportunity for professional growth and increased responsibility within the organization.
- Defined career development path with the opportunity to progress into a Purchasing Manager role.
