Body Technician

Responsibilities
  • Complete disassembly of vehicle to assist Collision Estimators in assessing damage and preparing a 100% Repair Plan.
  • Ensure all needed repairs are identified to eliminate supplements and minimize repair time.
  • Plan work procedure by following work orders for all listed operations.
  • Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic windows, and seat operating equipment to gain access to damaged areas of the vehicle if needed; store parts on carts or cover them to eliminate potential damage.
  • Mend damaged body by hammering out or filling in dents and welding broken parts; ensure all gaps and fits meet industry standards; remove damaged panels and bolts or weld replacement parts in position and reassemble after parts are painted.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools (e.g., welder, soldering equipment, cutting torch, blocks, hammers, wrenches, sander, spray guns, etc.).
  • File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces before turning the vehicle over to the Paint Department.
  • Repair or replace defective parts.
  • Inspect and test drive repaired vehicles to confirm compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all Classic Collision standard operating procedures, safety rules, and guidelines.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • I-CAR / ASE certifications preferred.
  • 2–3 years’ collision repair experience preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Customer‑focused attitude with the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and information.
  • Successful completion of background check required.

Physical & Environmental

During the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands, talk, and hear. The employee frequently stands, sits, and walks for long periods. The employee may occasionally need to reach with hands, arms, and move objects up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close and peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
