Overview &Key Responsibilities
The Aircraft Support Mechanic (ASM) is a critical Tech Ops role that supports the safe and efficient operation of Delta’s aircraft fleet. You work independently or as part of a team, assisting Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMTs) with technical and non‑technical tasks related to aircraft interiors and other areas as needed. This entry‑level position offers many opportunities to learn from experienced AMTs, who will guide you in inspecting, maintaining, and improving aircraft systems.
Responsibilities- Perform all work activities in accordance with laws, regulations, and safety protocols.
- Conduct inspections to locate damage, defects, or wear affecting safety or customer experience, and report issues as appropriate.
- Recommend replacement, repair, or modification of aircraft equipment based on inspection findings.
- Report issues, malfunctions, or unusual wear to the appropriate personnel.
- Test machinery, mechanical equipment, components, and parts for defects to ensure proper functioning.
- Install, remove, or modify aircraft structures, systems, or components following drawings, schematics, and technical publications.
- Repair worn, defective, or damaged parts or components (e.g., seat gears, tray tables, wiring/electrical) using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment or system operation problems.
- Interpret discrepancies or logs, understand the history and nature of issues, and determine required next steps.
- Read and interpret technical manuals and guidelines to perform inspections, installations, repairs, or other work activities.
- Maintain repair logs documenting all preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Use specifications, drawings, blueprints, schematics, or flow charts to determine operational methods and sequences.
- Research manuals, flight logs, or other technical resources to gather information needed to complete work activities.
- Practice safety‑conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.
- Consistently prioritize safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
- Embrace a diverse set of people, thinking, and styles.
- Have a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
- Be at least 18 years of age and authorized to work in the United States.
- Hold a valid driver’s license.
- Be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- If transferring internally, demonstrate satisfactory performance in the current position.
- Demonstrate that privacy is a priority when handling personal data.
- Airframe & Powerplant license.
