You are based in the Minneapolis/St Paul, MN area and willing to travel to support our national clients across the United States.
When travel assignments are not available, we are committed to providing local work so you can continue working consistently.
As a Traveling Superintendent at Gardner Builders, you'll be the on‑site lead for multiple construction projects, balancing the details, managing field teams, scheduling, and serving as a point of connection between trade partners, clients, and your internal project team. From the start of a project through closeout, you'll be responsible for:
- Leading and coordinating daily site operations across multiple projects
- Managing schedules, sequencing work, and ensuring progress aligns with project goals
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized jobsite
- Driving quality by proactively identifying and resolving issues before they become problems
- Communicating with trade partners, field staff, and project managers to ensure alignment
- Hosting weekly foreman meetings to keep everyone informed and on track
- Ordering materials, scheduling inspections, and maintaining accurate records
- Acting as a visible, responsive, and reliable presence on site
- Jumping in as needed to solve problems quickly, professionally, and collaboratively

- Clients are impressed by the smooth execution and the way your team shows up.
- 5 + years of experience as a Superintendent on industrial and/or life science (ie, clean rooms, labs, etc) commercial construction projects, with a strong understanding of the unique requirements of these environments.
- Openness to working out of town for extended periods. When travel assignments are not available, we are committed to providing in‑town work so you can continue working consistently.
- Strong knowledge of heavy mechanical systems such as process piping, HVAC, and complex MEP installations.
- Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, trade scopes, and site logistics.
- A humble, team‑oriented approach and the ability to manage several tasks at once while keeping a cool head.
- Confidence in reading plans, coordinating teams, and adapting to change.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Proficiency with scheduling software, construction platforms like Procore, Google tools, Microsoft Office tools, and Apple devices.
- Ability to maintain a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
