OverviewYMCA of the North is seeking a Senior Vice President of People & Culture to help shape the future of one of the largest and most respected YMCA associations in the country. This is a rare opportunity to lead People & Culture at enterprise scale in service of a mission that reaches more than 250,000 individuals across Minnesota and western Wisconsin each year.
With approximately 4,000 team members during the off‑peak season and up to 6,000 during peak camp and program months, our people are the engine behind everything we do. This leader will report to the Executive Vice President & Chief Business Officer and serve as a key member of the Operations Team, helping build an ecosystem that operates at the intersection of people, process, and technology—including enterprise transformation, digital enablement, and leadership capability at scale—in service to our communities.
This is not a solo‑hero role—it is a collaborative, enterprise leadership opportunity.

The opportunity now is to continue building capability, clarity, and consistency across the function while strengthening partnership with the business and advancing a long‑term leadership pipeline and institutional learning infrastructure.
Success in This Role Will Require Someone Who Can:- Build trust across teams and stakeholder groups
- Strengthen leadership readiness and workforce capability
- Elevate functional expertise and operational maturity across the People & Culture team
- Ensure reliability and excellence across core HR fundamentals, including payroll, benefits, employee relations, compliance, and talent acquisition
- Translate enterprise strategy into practical, executable people priorities
- Partner closely with executive leadership and the Board’s People & Culture subcommittee
This leader will help ensure YMCA of the North continues to be a magnet for talent across the Y movement and the Twin Cities market—a place where people feel supported, challenged, and inspired by the work they do.
In‑Person Attendance RequirementCandidates must be located within reasonable commuting distance and able to adjust their schedule as needed to support regular, often daily, in‑person collaboration.
CompensationThe salary range for this position is $153,000 – $205,000 annually. We take into consideration an individual’s background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part‑time or full‑time status.
