Position Overview

As Senior Manager, Accommodations and Health and Safety, you will champion accommodations, health, safety, and inclusion across all areas of RBC. The Employee Relations team provides advice and counsel to executives, people leaders, and employees on complex workplace situations to ensure a fair, transparent employee experience while managing risk to RBC.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the US Workplace Accommodations team and support a consistent approach across RBC with respect to workplace accommodations, ergonomics, leaves and health and safety.
  • Provide subject‑matter expertise and advice to HR partners, people managers, and others to ensure reputable accommodation, leave and occupational health and safety advice is provided to businesses, functions and HR teams.
  • Work in partnership with managers to support employees with workplace accommodation needs such as ergonomics, interpreting disability assessments, securing accommodations, ensuring timely execution of recommendations, and following up to ensure accommodation needs have been met.
  • Manage accommodations, leave and occupational health and safety escalations, enabling advisors and senior advisors to give advice at scale and facilitate solutions to complex matters.
  • Support RBC’s Health and Safety Programs by overseeing and monitoring compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
  • Plan, execute and deliver accommodations and health and safety projects of high complexity, managing scope, requirements, changes, competing demands, and priorities while determining and conveying impact on budget, time and risk using appropriate fact‑based metrics and assumptions.
  • Work closely with Employee Relations Directors or Senior Directors on complex and sensitive matters and enterprise initiatives and projects.
  • Support Employee Relations senior management in developing training, resources, guidelines, processes and tools to facilitate Employee Relations’ ability to meet its priorities in the areas of accommodations and health and safety.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key partners and stakeholders to advance accommodations and health and safety strategic priorities and influence program approaches.
  • Balance multiple short‑term and long‑term priorities through demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills.
Qualifications Must‑Have Qualifications
  • Minimum of 7+ years direct experience in Employee Relations, Occupational Health and Safety, Disability and Leaves Management, and/or employment law.
  • Demonstrated and applied knowledge of US employment law and regulations at federal and state levels, including occupational health and safety, human rights, accommodation, employment equity and workplace standards.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, able to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously while delivering on commitments.
  • Thought leadership, strategic thinking, analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent collaboration capabilities and ability to engage others toward a shared vision and common goals.
  • Experience establishing and managing relationships with executives and senior‑level stakeholders with the ability to impact and influence.
  • Strong track record of successful and timely delivery on projects and/or initiatives.
  • Ability to drive change in unfamiliar or ambiguous circumstances, to handle confidential information and to appropriately escalated issues with a high degree of professionalism and organizational awareness.
  • Strong sense of accountability, high‑quality judgment and sound decision‑making.
  • Demonstrated experience in aligning and integrating risk management with business and HR strategy.
Nice‑to‑Have Qualifications
  • Admitted to practice law in a US state (or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with cross‑functional and/or global projects.
  • Society of Human Resources Management Certified Professional (SHRM‑CP).
  • People Management experience.
