Account Director – Publications
The Account Director on the Publications team within US Medical Affairs is the primary client contact and strategic advisor, responsible for managing relationships, driving business growth, and ensuring exceptional client service. This is a hybrid role, based in any US office or remote.
Responsibilities- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, building trusted partnerships and delivering strategic guidance.
- Provide counsel on publications strategy, scientific communications, and medical affairs initiatives.
- Develop and implement strategic account plans, ensuring consistency across projects.
- Identify growth opportunities within existing accounts, recommending new tactics and strategies.
- Lead multiple client accounts, ensuring flawless execution and delivery of publication plans.
- Manage and mentor account teams, fostering high performance and professional growth.
- Drive internal team meetings, ensuring clear communication of project goals and expectations.
- Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, ensuring profitability.
- Lead development of scopes of work, budgets, and client proposals.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, contributing to pitch development.
- Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities.
- Represent Real Chemistry at industry events and contribute to thought leadership.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, expanding agency influence.

- 6+ years of healthcare agency client services experience, strong background in medical publications.
- Deep understanding of ICMJE and GPP guidelines.
- Experience in strategic publication planning.
- Experience with iEnvision, Pub Strat or similar publication management software.
- Proven success leading client relationships and delivering strategic counsel.
- Strong financial acumen, managing budgets, scopes of work, and forecasting revenue growth.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor teams.
- Exceptional communication skills to influence, negotiate, and present to senior stakeholders.
- High attention to detail with strong project management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Veeva preferred.
- BA or equivalent work experience required.
Hybrid role based in any US office—New York City, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Carmel (IN), or Lambertville (NJ)—or remote within the US, depending on team and business needs.
