Schedule and Attendance:
Full-Time

• Maintain regular, predictable attendance and punctuality
• Work during standard organizational operating hours
• Attend and participate in team meetings, department meetings, all-staff meetings, and one-on-one meetings with supervisor
• Occasional travel between AHS locations and project sites

The Capital Projects Manager supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of capital improvement projects to advance the organization's facilities, technology, and infrastructure priorities. This position serves as the organization's primary day-to-day liaison for major capital construction projects managed by an external Owner's Representative while coordinating facility improvement, renovation, and technology projects across the organization. Working collaboratively with the Vice President of Technology and Infrastructure, Director of Facilities, and cross-functional leaders, this position helps ensure capital projects are delivered successfully and aligned with organizational needs.

• Coordinate major capital construction projects from planning through occupancy.
• Manage multiple facility, renovation, and technology improvement projects simultaneously.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, documentation, budgets, and status reports.
• Coordinate communication between internal stakeholders, contractors, consultants, and vendors.
• Support procurement activities, including RFP development and vendor coordination.
• Assist with organizational readiness, operational transitions, and occupancy planning.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and help resolve project challenges.
• Foster collaborative relationships that support successful project outcomes.

• This role is primarily office-based with regular visits to project and construction sites. Exposure to construction environments as well as active animal shelter and veterinary clinic settings should be expected.

Required:

• 5+ years of experience managing or supporting construction, facilities, capital improvement, technology, infrastructure, or similar projects.
• Experience coordinating projects through planning, scheduling, documentation, and implementation.
• Knowledge of project planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and risk management principles.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities while collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software.

Preferred:

• Experience working with Owner's Representatives, architects, engineers, contractors, or construction management firms.
• Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, veterinary, or multi-site organizations.
• Familiarity with facilities management and capital improvement projects.
• CAPM, PMP, or other project management certification.

• Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work.
• Ability to walk construction and project sites.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to travel between organizational locations as needed.

• Ability to work effectively in an animal welfare environment.
• Comfort walking in environments where humane euthanasia is performed as part of shelter operations.
• Ability to remain professional while supporting projects in emotionally sensitive settings.

• Reliable transportation with the ability to travel between organizational locations and project sites as needed.
