Position Overview

The Payroll Manager will own all payroll operations and processing and oversee the team. As the Payroll Manager, they will help elevate the function by building scalable processes, driving toward efficiencies across our dealership locations, and developing team members. The ideal candidate has deep payroll expertise, experience leading a team, and the ability to problem-solve in ambiguous and sometimes complex environments.

NOT open to relocation - must be local to the Twin Cities, MN area to be considered.

Salary

$100,000 - $115,000

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day payroll operations for approximately 4,400 employees across multiple states and dealership locations.
  • Manage and develop a team of approximately 10 payroll professionals.
  • Serve as the primary payroll escalation point for dealership leadership and internal business partners.
  • Support payroll integration activities related to acquisitions and expansion into new markets and states.
  • Establish greater consistency and standardization across payroll operations.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
  • Partner with Finance, HR, and business leadership to drive process improvements.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 7+ years of progressive payroll experience with leadership responsibility.
  • Experience leading payroll operations in a multi-state environment.
  • Strong payroll compliance and tax knowledge.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ADP or similar systems.
  • Ability to lead through complexity, ambiguity, and change.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Union payroll experience.
  • Automotive, manufacturing, hospitality, construction, or similar industry experience.
  • CPP certification preferred.
