The Clinical Research Manager II (CRM II) provides advanced managerial and strategic leadership for large, complex clinical research and education portfolios across multiple domains. This role partners closely with Principal Investigators, research teams, executive leadership, physicians, and industry collaborators to shape portfolio strategy, optimize resources, and advance organizational priorities.
The CRM II leads enterprise-wide initiatives, drives cross-functional collaboration and integration, mentors research staff and other Clinical Research Managers, and may oversee shared services or multiple enterprise-level functions. This role balances day-to-day operational oversight with long-term planning, financial stewardship, innovation, and external relationship management.
Primary Responsibilities
Portfolio Strategy & Operations
- Oversee large, complex clinical research and education portfolios across multiple domains.
- Partner with Principal Investigators and organizational leaders to influence portfolio strategy, long-term planning, and innovation.
- Ensure research programs align with MHIF’s long-term vision, organizational goals, and standards of quality and compliance.
- Lead strategic planning, resource utilization, and resource allocation for complex portfolios.
- Monitor operational performance, address advanced issues, and implement solutions that strengthen efficiency, engagement, and outcomes.
- Support the financial health of assigned portfolios through sound business judgment, planning, and oversight.
- Maintain awareness of applicable clinical research regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
- Lead one or more enterprise-wide projects and initiatives with broad organizational impact.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration, strategic integration, and alignment across research programs and operational functions.
- Oversee shared services teams or other functional groups in support of organizational initiatives, as assigned.
- May expand to oversee multiple enterprise-level functions and lead integration across programs.
- Sponsor and influence projects that advance innovation, optimization, and collaboration across research specialties.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to identify opportunities, address organizational priorities, and support sustainable growth.
- Provide direct supervision and leadership for research staff and may lead cross-functional teams as portfolio needs expand.
