This is a full-time, on-site position based in Circle Pines, Minnesota. Remote or hybrid work is not available.

  • Currently reside within commuting distance of Circle Pines, MN or be willing to relocate at their own expense

Position Summary

The Manufacturing/Production Engineer is responsible for optimizing production processes, improving production efficiency, ensuring product quality and safety, while ensuring a high level of operations performance and cost-effective operations. This role will work closely with the Production Team and the Director of Operations to implement processes, procedures, KPI’s, and performance initiatives to meet previously stated goals. This is a hands-on, floor-based engineering role supporting daily production.

The engineer will spend significant time on the production floor working directly with operators, equipment, materials, and real-time process issues.

  • Design, Develop, and implement manufacturing processes to meet safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets.
  • Analyzes operational and material costs to identify savings opportunities and implements cost-reduction initiatives without compromising safety, quality, or production performance.
  • Create and optimize Work Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), and Production Documentation to be used for regular reporting.
  • Assist in creating and administering safety plan.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee quality control processes with appropriate performance metrics.
  • Create Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for reporting and assessing productivity and performance metrics.
  • Coordinate production activities including scheduling, inventory usage & practices, labor allocation, prioritization, etc.
  • Assist in training new operators on processes, safety procedures, and best operating practices.
  • Assist in developing and managing inventory management processes and practices to ensure accurate material usage and decreased wastage rates.
  • Creates, documents, and maintains clear, accurate work instructions for shipping department operations.
  • Actively monitor and report key production metrics and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Lead and/or assist in continuous improvement initiatives and special projects as assigned, which may include product development initiatives.
  • Evaluate production equipment and assist in developing maintenance schedule to ensure all tools and machines operate appropriately and in a safe manner.
  • Prepare reports, analyses, and recommendations for management as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 2 years of full-time, post-graduation experience in a manufacturing or production engineering role within a physical production environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production systems.
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies and implementation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD and production drawings.
  • Experience in a small to mid-sized manufacturing environment with high product mix, custom configuration, or make-to-order production preferred.
  • Experience writing work instructions and SOPs for production operators
  • Experience improving material flow, workstation layout, or labor efficiency
  • Experience working directly with production teams, supervisors, and operators
  • Experience supporting inventory accuracy, kitting, or production scheduling
Preferred Qualifications
  • Detailed understanding of ERP systems.
  • Experience in quality systems and lean manufacturing (Six Sigma Green/Black Belt) or similar.
  • Experience with automation, process controls, and industrial equipment.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a production environment.

Work Environment Requirements
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to noise, machinery, and industrial conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • May require occasional extended hours or on-call support to meet production demands.
