Job Description
The Service Engineer’s primary role is to diagnose and service equipment, assist with technical preventative maintenance, provide quotes to management, coordinate service with external service providers, provide unique solutions external service providers don’t offer, and communicate/confirm completion of service. Primarily working on CNC machines. This role will support all departments in our shop as needed. Lowell has one facility, no travel required.

Service Engineer Responsibilities:- Lead diagnostics and service of CNC machines and supporting manufacturing systems including automation robotics coolant/filtration, material handling, metrology equipment, and plant utilities in a regulated medical device contract manufacturing environment.
- Measure geometries, level equipment, perform ball bar testing, and laser alignment to correct nonconforming results.
- Machine/fabricate various metals/plastics to service or improve equipment/cells/facilities.
- Rebuild mechanical pumps and motors.
- Record pending equipment/cell service and engineering improvements from associates.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide innovative solutions to support projects.
- Provide unique solutions that external equipment manufacturers/distributors don’t offer.
- Assists associates with planned/unplanned technical preventive maintenance on their equipment.
- Communicate with part distributors for part quotes to service equipment
- Provide management with service/part quotes from equipment/part distributors for purchase orders.
- Inspect ordered parts for correct part number or shipping damage before receiving/installing part.
- Coordinate planned/unplanned warranty/non-warranty service for equipment with equipment manufacturers/distributors, independent service companies, and management.
- Assist equipment manufacturers/distributors, and independent service companies with moving, lifting, and tooling solutions to service equipment.
- Communicate/confirm completion of equipment/cell service with associates.
- Operate forklift, scissor lift, floor scrubbers, and manufacturing equipment.
- Assist with building and facility maintenance if needed.
- Complete training as needed to comply with QMS requirements
- Complete job functions in compliance with all local and regulatory requirements, including ISO, OSHA, City of BP, BP Fire, FDA, and EPA
- Other duties as needed and assigned.
Skills and Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience with electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, HMI, NC, PLC, mechanical, rigging, and automated systems.
- Valid driver’s license required to occasionally pick up parts/equipment.
- Working knowledge of electricity, NEC, fire codes, SEMI codes, fluid dynamics, assembly techniques, and safety.
- Understanding Windows-based control software and PLC programming using ladder logic.
- Manual machining and CNC machining experience preferred but not required.
- Skilled in troubleshooting/diagnosing and analyzing systems daily.
- Knowledge of integrated fire suppression systems.
- Welding experience is preferred but not required.
- Microsoft Office Suite experience required.
- Experienced daily use of Fanuc CNC controls required. Exposure to probing systems and robot handheld controls is preferred but not required. Attention to detail, cleanliness, organization, honesty, and an ability/willingness to learn quickly.
- Strong communication skills and ability to self-manage/prioritize responsibilities.
