The Food Processing Technologist supports pilot plant and processing operations with a focus on the cereal platform, ensuring equipment is safely set up, sanitized, and operated for product trials. This hands‑on role requires strong technical aptitude, food safety awareness, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic processing environment. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, quality‑driven, and comfortable leading sanitation, troubleshooting, and cross‑platform operational support.
Responsibilities- Set up, sanitize, and operate processing equipment for cereal and cross‑platform product trials.
- Perform and document equipment sanitation activities; inspect systems to verify food and human safety standards are met.
- Conduct risk assessments and proactively identify and resolve safety concerns.
- Lead complex equipment setups and support technical troubleshooting across maintenance, electrical, and control systems.
- Train and coach team members on unit operations and standard procedures.
- Support multiple platforms as needed, flexing shifts and hours based on business demand.
- Safely handle, lift, and transport ingredients and equipment up to 55 lbs.
- Utilize basic computer systems and documentation tools to support trial execution and reporting.
- High school diploma or two-year technical degree with relevant hands‑on experience in processing or plant operations.
- Experience operating equipment autonomously in a pilot plant or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of food safety and human safety standards.
- Mechanical and technical troubleshooting skills, including basic maintenance and controls exposure.
- Ability to assess risks and solve technical or operational issues independently.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office and related systems).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Capability to lift and maneuver materials up to 55 lbs on a consistent basis.
- Prior experience in food manufacturing, food service, laboratory, or CPG environments.
- Exposure to cereal processing or similar grain‑based systems.
- Demonstrated experience training or mentoring others in operational settings.
