Position Summary
We’re looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Operations group within the Sensor Business Unit. The role focuses on driving cost reduction, manufacturing efficiency, and scalable process improvements across new and existing products. You will support design-for-manufacturing efforts, improve yields, and implement sustainable manufacturing solutions in a collaborative environment. This position reports to an Industrial Engineer.
What You’ll Be DoingThis role requires collaboration across teams to support manufacturing improvements. The following outlines key responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate cross-functionally with production, quality, and NPD teams
- Work with operators and technicians on the factory floor to address process challenges and implement practical improvements
- Specify and provide assembly fixtures and automation using workflow toolsets
- Support manufacturability (DFM) efforts for new product developments
- Participate in cross-functional design reviews, process reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Analyze new product concepts and provide feedback for assembly requirements
- Incorporate preferred assembly methods to meet yield and cost targets
- Lead FMEA sessions to reduce and eliminate causes of defects on new product introductions
- Prepare manufacturing process plans to enable Lean manufacturing and single-piece flow
- Create labor estimates, time standards, drawings, routings, and procedural documentation
- Manage preproduction engineering builds and the manufacturing release process
- Process Development and Improvement
- Interpret production metrics and prioritize actions to improve quality, yield, and efficiency
- Analyze lines to identify bottlenecks and waste and redesign workflows
- Maintain a continuous improvement mindset and manage projects independently
- Analyze data, perform root cause analysis, and execute DOE
- Conduct time studies to establish labor standards and balance the production line
- Develop and maintain assembly documentation, work instructions, and process standards
- Lead safety, waste reduction, and workflow optimization initiatives
- Research new production technologies to support cost and quality goals
- Design, build, and validate manufacturing fixtures to improve efficiency and repeatability

Required- BS degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or related field
- 1-3 years of relevant experience
- Proficiency in PTC Creo or similar solid modeling tools
- Understanding of designing, developing, and validating manufacturing fixtures
- Strong applied statistical skills to analyze manufacturing data and drive continuous improvement
- Working knowledge of fabrication processes (plastic injection molding, machining, metal forming)
- Hands-on experience in electro-mechanical assembly and manufacturing
- Experience developing and troubleshooting assembly processes on the production floor
- Proven problem-solving skills for mechanical, electrical, and process issues
- Ability to collaborate with operators, technicians, engineers and cross-functional teams
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Occasional travel to manufacturing facilities in South Dakota and possibly Mexico
- Strong collaboration skills with design, production, quality, and industrial engineering teams
