Position ObjectiveProvides direct supervision, coordination, and support to meet operational objectives for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost for assigned portion(s) of the value stream. Drives a culture of continuous improvement and supports the development of processes and manufacturing technologies in the CNC and machining area. Collaborates interdepartmentally to develop cost-effective, design-for-manufacturability solutions. Develops and leads employees to achieve department goals with a focus on safety of personnel, equipment, and facilities.
Responsibilities- Oversees and directs the daily operations within CNC-Manufacturing regarding time, cost, and quality.
- Provides guidance, mentoring and leadership to new and existing staff; delivers regular feedback.
- Handles inquiries or difficult situations, directing to appropriate individuals as needed; conducts candidate interviews, recommends selections, and addresses performance issues as required.
- Ensures compliance with all safety rules and regulations; coaches the team to identify hazards and collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions; models safe behaviors.
- Maintains product conformance to specifications by ensuring standard work is followed and equipment operates per specifications; supports cross-functional efforts to assess performance and implement corrective actions.
- Facilitates daily Tier processes to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost targets.
- Manages operational processing of assigned goods from order receipt to dispatch, including planning and control of production orders, capacity utilization, deadlines, and processing time.
- Manages stock levels and master data of assigned goods; initiates and edits FIS workflows in SAP.
- Recommends and procures operating resources, consumables, services, equipment, tools, and fixturing from outside vendors.
- Develops, implements, and tracks metrics and KPIs for the CNC manufacturing department to align with company strategy.
- Supports vertical integration locally and collaborates with design, procurement, and manufacturing engineering groups.
- Supports continuous improvement efforts, develops SOPs, engages in kaizen and 6S, problem solving, and daily improvements.
- Supports automation initiatives within CNC manufacturing departments.
- Participates in NPD projects from initiation to provide DFM expertise and drive cost-effective production solutions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Provide direct supervision and work direction for 5-10 employees.
- Responsible for daily output of the Manufacturing department.
- Collaborate with quality, planning, procurement, and maintenance to fulfill production schedules.
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering or CNC manufacturing/tool making, or equivalent years of work experience.
- 10+ years in a CNC manufacturing environment.
- 3+ years of supervision leading a CNC environment.
- Strong working knowledge of CNC manufacturing technology, tooling, programming, 6S, and continuous improvement.
- Experience leading CNC manufacturing teams.
- Knowledge of SAP/ERP.
- Professional experience in CNC manufacturing and automation.
- Experience in new product development and design for manufacturing.
- MS Office, SAP, CAD/CAM experience.
- Experience in costing, quoting, and sourcing.
- Strong programming, problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, mechanical, and communication skills.
- Leadership and organizational skills; ability to lead others to solution-driven decisions.
- Ability to work under pressure in a deadline-oriented environment.
- Ability to build and maintain positive internal and external relationships with a service orientation.
