Electrical Engineer

Morris Packaging is a manufacturer of sustainable, flexible packaging products such as bags, pouches, and rollstock. Morris Packaging provides end‑to‑end packaging solutions, including design, printing, warehousing, and logistics support.

The Electrical Engineer will oversee the planning, design and installation of machinery and equipment on the production floor. This includes testing and monitoring equipment, updating current system processes, creating standard operating procedures and safety protocols, and conducting risk assessments.

• Develop specifications and performance requirements for production equipment.
• Calculate cost analysis for integrating new equipment into the manufacturing process.
• Use programming knowledge and experience to adapt equipment to specific job applications.
• Work with Continuous Improvement Manager to prepare operating instructions and programs for equipment.
• Oversee installation of machinery and equipment to ensure they function according to specifications.
• Evaluate equipment to ensure it can complete desired functions.
• Analyze alternative techniques and methods and recommend changes to equipment or procedures as needed.
• Establish schedule of procedures and maintenance routines to ensure equipment operates efficiently.
• Share technical information and training with other departments.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be primarily in our climate‑controlled facility. The plant floor is subject to vibration and equipment noise leading to a loud environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and might also be exposed to outside conditions, tight spaces, cleaning solvents and heights.

• Continuous (6 or more hours per day) bending, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, reaching, lifting, and grasping.
• Continuous (6 or more hours per day) talking, listening, teaching, and repetitive motion, hand/wrist movement.
• Continuous (6 or more hours per day) standing and walking.
• Frequent (1 to 3 hours per day) work in a stooped position.
• Ability to move and lift objects, frequently 50 lbs.

This is a full‑time position. Days, nights and hours may vary depending on assigned shift and production requirements. This position may require significant work hours beyond the normal workday based on the demands of the business cycle or customer volume of business.

Travel is not required for this position.

• Post secondary education in Electrical Engineering.
• Extensive knowledge of engineering and programming including electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
• Proficient with computer industrial design systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Proficient with computer design systems and Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• Experience in PLC, HMI, and knowledge of control systems.
• Knowledge of Allen Bradley and Siemens controllers.
• Good electrical troubleshooting skills.
