Countertop Machine Operator

Role Summary The Machine Operator in the Counter top Fabrication department is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining fabrication machinery used in cutting, polishing, and finishing quartz and granite counter top components. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate production according to specifications, contributing to labor efficiency (Labor Hours per Square Foot) and timely delivery of high-quality products.

Success is measured by consistently achieving high Fabrication First-Pass Yield, minimizing the Remake Rate (jobs requiring rework), and eliminating Fabrication Escaped Defects that reach downstream processes or customers.

Key Responsibilities Machine Operation Set up and operate CNC and manual machines (e.g., saws, polishers, routers) for counter top fabrication

Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to optimize output and prevent defects

Load and unload materials, ensuring correct positioning and handling during operations

Quality & Process Control Inspect work pieces to ensure they meet blueprint and tolerance specifications

Maintain cleanliness of machines and work areas to prevent contamination or errors

Record measurements, production quantities, and downtime accurately in production logs Safety & Efficiency Follow all safety guidelines for machine operations, material handling, and PPE use Report malfunctions or safety hazards to maintenance or supervision immediately

Support the production team in meeting or exceeding daily fabrication targets and labor efficiency KPIs (Labor Hours per Square Foot)
Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred1+ year of experience operating fabrication machinery or in a related manufacturing role

Experience with stone or solid surface materials a plus (granite, quartz, etc.)Ability to read measurements, interpret technical drawings, and follow instructions

Comfortable with tools, precision instruments, and handling heavy materials

Forklift certification a plus

Physical Requirements Ability to lift 75+ lbs regularly

Use of PPE including hearing protection, eye protection, gloves, and steel-toe boots required
