Job Description
The Test Technician sets up and operates test apparatus, performs electrical and mechanical testing, and supports test development activities for advanced medical devices used in neuromodulation and pelvic health therapies. This role assembles and calibrates equipment, executes test procedures, troubleshoots issues with test systems and fixtures, and contributes to continuous improvement in a collaborative laboratory environment.
Responsibilities- Set up test apparatus and conduct tests on production assemblies and units by following established methods, procedures, standards, and sequences.
- Lay out and assemble units and fixtures for production and test equipment according to engineering designs, drawings, and specifications.
- Adjust, calibrate, and verify systems, fixtures, and test equipment as needed to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Modify equipment by adding, removing, or altering components based on predetermined diagrams, sketches, and work instructions.
- Identify and correct malfunctions by making appropriate adjustments or replacing parts and components as directed.
- Use hand tools, small power tools, and various measuring and testing devices to perform daily job duties safely and accurately.
- Monitor and verify product and process quality in accordance with statistical process control or other quality control procedures.
- Provide technical support in areas such as production operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement, and product development.
- Interpret and use schematics, diagrams, written instructions, and verbal descriptions to perform testing and troubleshooting on electronic and mechanical components, equipment, and systems.
- Gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data using established formulas and procedures, and perform detailed mathematical calculations as required.
- Perform tests, interpret test data, and prepare clear and accurate reports documenting methods, results, and observations.
- Support testing and therapy delivery activities, including test development, test execution, and work related to transporting therapy to the device.
- Participate in developing, building, and dry‑running test fixtures, and provide feedback to improve fixture design and usability.
- Perform calibrations and ensure test equipment remains within specified tolerances.
- Assist with supplies management, including identifying needs and supporting purchasing of lab materials and components.
- Conduct heavy electrical and mechanical testing, with emphasis on mechanical systems and components.
- Perform soldering tasks as needed for assembly, repair, or modification of test fixtures and devices.
- Repair and troubleshoot test equipment and laboratory tools, ensuring minimal downtime and reliable operation.
- Execute all product testing using specialized lab equipment and troubleshoot equipment issues when problems arise.
- Collaborate closely with engineers and project leads, receiving daily work instructions and providing feedback on test progress and issues.
- Support multiple concurrent projects by prioritizing tasks, adapting to changing requirements, and managing workload effectively.
- Maintain accurate documentation of tests, configurations, results, and changes in accordance with laboratory and quality procedures.
- Communicate clearly with internal team members to obtain and provide technical information, including explaining test setups, results, and issues.
- Highlight areas of concern or problems in the job area and suggest improvements to optimize work processes.
- Provide guidance and assistance to new or entry‑level technicians as needed, sharing best practices and supporting their development.
- Handle very small devices and leads with care, using fine motor skills to assemble, connect, and test components used in neuromodulation and pelvic health therapies.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a technical, testing, or laboratory role, or equivalent experience obtained through prior work or vocational/technical education.
- Basic job knowledge of systems, techniques, and procedures related to test setup, execution, and troubleshooting.
