Director, Medical Business Development - Minneapolis, MN
We are seeking a high-performing Business Development Director to drive strategic growth within the medical device, diagnostics, and drug delivery markets. This is a proactive “hunter” role focused on acquiring new OEM customers and securing multi-year manufacturing programs in ISO 13485 regulated environments.
The ideal candidate brings experience in medical injection molding or contract manufacturing and thrives on prospecting, penetrating complex organizations, and closing high-value programs.
Key Responsibilities New Business Development- Identify and target strategic medical OEMs aligned with PCI manufacturing capabilities.
- Prospect and penetrate new accounts, engaging decision-makers across R&D, engineering, sourcing, and executive leadership.
- Lead discovery discussions to uncover unmet manufacturing needs.
- Convert early-stage opportunities into RFQs and awarded programs.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified new business opportunities.
- Drive opportunities from initial contact through DFM collaboration, quotation, negotiation, and award.
- Maintain accurate CRM data, forecasting, and disciplined follow-up.
- Position full product lifecycle capabilities including DFM, tooling, automation, validation (IQ/OQ/PQ), and production scale-up.
- Partner cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and operations to develop winning technical and commercial strategies.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.
- 15+ years of business development experience in medical injection molding or medical contract manufacturing.
- Proven success securing new OEM customers in regulated manufacturing environments (FDA, ISO 13485).
- Strong understanding of DFM, tooling strategies, injection molding, and validation processes within plastics contract manufacturing.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to translate technical capabilities into customer value.
- Highly organized, persistent, and results-driven.
