Job Description:
This role involves operating various saws to measure and cut metal materials to precise client specifications, supporting a fabrication and distribution operation focused on bar grating. You will work with steel in a medium-sized warehouse and fabrication shop, using both saws and a sit-down forklift while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work area.
- Measure metal materials accurately using a tape measure to meet client specifications.
- Set up, operate, and monitor saws, including band saws, miter saws, and chop saws, to cut steel and other metals according to blueprints and work orders.
- Interpret blueprints and cutting lists to ensure accurate cuts and correct dimensions for bar grating and other fabricated products.
- Stage steel and other materials using a sit-down forklift to support efficient production flow.
- Conduct regular inventory checks of bar grating and related materials to maintain accurate stock levels.
- Maintain and clean saws, grinders, forklifts, and other equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of debris to support safety and productivity.
- Perform basic grinding and finishing on cut materials as needed to meet quality standards.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when operating saws, forklifts, and other shop equipment.
- Communicate with team members and supervisors about material needs, equipment issues, and production priorities.
- Proven experience in fabrication or saw operation in a metal or steel environment.
- Proficiency in operating saws such as band saws, miter saws, and chop saws for cutting metal.
- Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure and pass a tape measure test.
- Experience operating a sit-down forklift for staging and moving steel and other materials.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and cutting lists to perform accurate cuts.
- Knowledge of basic metal fabrication processes, including cutting and grinding.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure precise measurements and high-quality cuts.
- Ability to maintain and clean saws, grinders, and related equipment.
- Commitment to following safety procedures in a fabrication and warehouse environment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with steel and bar grating in a fabrication or warehouse setting.
- Familiarity with grinding tools and basic finishing techniques for metal parts.
- Comfort working with various saw types, including band saws, miter saws, and chop saws.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a production team environment.
- Strong organizational skills for staging materials and maintaining inventory accuracy.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 – $21.00/hr.
