This position involves directing work activities and overseeing all processes from manufacturing through to shipping within the organization. The role is critical in establishing and ensuring Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Cost (SQDIC) goals are met. The Operations Manager will supervise staff, schedule machines and personnel appropriately, oversee Continuous Improvement (CI) activities with the Engineering team, and enforce compliance with safety rules, regulations, and company policies.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional leaders to maintain a cohesive team atmosphere and drive high-quality standards.
- Direct work activities of employees and oversee manufacturing processes, ensuring SQDIC goals are consistently met.
- Supervise staff and manage all employees, including workforce planning, selection, direction, coaching, training, and performance management.
- Schedule machines to maximize efficiencies and profitability.
- Conduct capacity analysis to meet future demand and recommend capacity expansion.
- Write capital expenditures for equipment, including preparing the capex form and PowerPoint presentations.
- Participate in determining and overseeing CI activities, implementing LEAN principles to enhance work cell performance.
- Enforce compliance with safety rules, taking corrective actions on potential hazards, and ensure timely completion of required training.
- Enforce company policies and procedures and manage administrative tasks related to people and manufacturing processes.
- Maintain proper inventory levels of tooling and parts and ensure manufacturing equipment maintenance in collaboration with the Maintenance Department.
- Develop and manage the department budget, recommend capital equipment purchases, and participate in facilities planning to meet capacity needs.
- Ensure conformance to local, state, and federal codes and maintain all necessary licenses and certificates.
- Provide plant-level leadership for the Apprenticeship Program, ensuring adherence to guidelines.
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, or related field with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, including supervising staff and overseeing multiple functions in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of eight years of relevant experience without a Bachelor's degree, with at least two years supervising staff in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in leading and implementing LEAN manufacturing initiatives.
- Broad knowledge of machining practices and manufacturing processes.
- Strong leadership skills, including coaching, team facilitation, and conflict management.
- Experience in process optimization and achieving cost reductions.
- Proficient in PC skills within a Windows environment.
- Experience working within an ISO environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience with precision machining and assembly of complex critical components.
- Experience with ISO and/or FDA 21

This is a Permanent position based out of Minneapolis, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
