Material Handler

Location: Minneapolis, MN

Pay Rate: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Schedule: 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM (Monday
- Friday, some weekend OT if needed)

Training

Schedule:

8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Monday
- Friday for 2 months)

Qualifications
  • High school diploma / GED or equivalent with at least 2 years of recent relevant work history
  • Basic mathematical calculations
  • Experience in logistics or shipping/receiving
  • Experience operating forklifts and other shop equipment safely
  • High attention to detail, ability to juggle multiple duties
  • Ability to work in warehouse/shop environment
  • Flexible shift availability, including OT and training shifts
  • Reliable attendance

Responsibilities
  • Manage inventory control and accuracy in a 24/7 locomotive shop, including cycle counts, stock audits, and reporting.
  • Pull, issue, receive, and restock materials ensuring accurate assignment, documentation, tracking in Oracle and warehouse systems.
  • Forecast material requirements for inbound and in-shop locomotives to maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Coordinate LTL, expedited, and hazardous material shipments using transportation portals, ensuring accurate BOLs, customs documentation, and compliance.
  • Perform quality control checks on inbound and outbound shipments, resolve discrepancies, and support timely delivery of critical materials.
  • Retrieve and process repair cycle assets, warranty cores, and commodity inventory to support efficient repair turnaround.
  • Operate forklifts and warehouse equipment safely, complete daily inspections, maintain compliance with safety standards and PPE.
  • Read mechanical drawings and technical documentation to identify correct materials, parts, inventory for locomotive maintenance.
  • Support warehouse operations through order fulfillment, physical inventory coordination, material transactions, maintaining a clean, organized facility.
  • Work effectively in physically demanding environment, including standing, walking, climbing locomotives, operating computers, overnight or extended shifts.
