Position Summary

ARCH - Minneapolis is looking for a CNC Milling Machine Lead to join our team. In this role you will coach and develop other machinists while performing hands‑on work as a working lead. Responsibilities include determining work assignments, resolving team issues, training machinists, managing production schedules, conducting maintenance requests, reporting safety incidents, operating CNC machines, and managing high‑quality part production.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead production in the CNC Milling area and communicate with leads on other shifts.
  • Manage daily priorities, assign work to maintain optimal flow and prioritize work based on product and resources.
  • Participate in daily production and GEMBA meetings to maintain constant communication of scheduled work.
  • Monitor CNC machinist productivity to ensure correct machining processes and alignment with manufacturing objectives.
  • Plan and coordinate workflow with other departments and scheduling function.
  • Support company policies, collaborate with Leadership Team to resolve issues/concerns.
  • Interview and evaluate applicants for vacant positions.
  • Set up and operate various CNC equipment, produce components using engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Lead process improvement, development, and productivity improvement efforts.
  • Ensure employees perform and document in‑process QA inspections, labor entry, and safety near‑miss/injuries.
  • Maintain a clean and organized department.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • U.S. person status required (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee) due to ITAR requirements.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in a machining environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
    Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in manufacturing.
  • Contract manufacturing experience highly desirable.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Knowledge of ERP system and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to read blueprints, use micrometers, calipers, and other QA gauges.
  • Ability to set up, operate, and program machine tools.

  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Compute rate, ratio, and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
  • Apply common sense to carry out detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions.
  • Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands

Physical duties include standing and walking frequently, occasionally walking, sitting, handling, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Vision required: close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus.
