Short-Term Seafood Processor – Motley Plant

Short-term seasonal role processing seafood products.

• Tends machine(s) to feed product to conveyors, hoppers, or other feeding devices.
• Removes product from platforms/conveyors and packs into preformed pouches.
• Ensures product packages are placed on conveyor according to company standards.
• Inspects filled container to ensure product is packaged according to specifications.
• Removes irregular product and foreign material, reports irregularities to the Quality Assurance Technician, Lead Person or Supervisor.
• Checks and verifies materials and amounts to be weighed, measured or counted and places items into appropriate containers.
• Sets up, operates, and monitors machinery used in the production process or assists machine operators.
• Records production data such as ingredients used, temperature, weights and times according to Standard Operating Procedures.
• Fills hoppers of automated system with correct ingredients using vacuum assist for lifting bags.
• Disassembles and reassembles the production line and equipment as necessary for cleaning.
• Cleans and sanitizes production equipment, tools, and work area per Standard Sanitation Operating Procedure while wearing required PPE.

• Regularly bend or lean at waist level.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or grasp packages and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to climb or balance.
• Occasionally required to stoop, kneel and crouch.
• Lifts and carries objects up to 5 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally.

Three to six months of food manufacturing experience.

• Knowledge:
  Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
• Skills:
  
  Ability to count by multiples 2s and 3s to place correct number of items into packages.
• Abilities:
  Interpret simple written instructions and follow established procedures.
• Work independently and collaborate with coworkers.
• Ability to distinguish shades of color to identify abnormalities and defects in food products.
